Lettera all'host family

Dear host family,

First of all I want to thank you for choosing me.
I'm already excited that you, in Australia, in the other part of the world are reading my letter! Maybe it sounds crazy, but that's how I feel right now.
Let me start to introduce myself.
I'm E., I'm fifteen and I'm going to turn sixteen in September, when I'll be in Australia.
I'm an italian teenager, and I live in a big city, in the South, (very famous for pizza, the best in the world!). I live in a flat in the Historical Centre, and I can say I really love art and art's history. As an Italian, I obviously love eating pasta, pizza and all kind of sweets, but I keep on fit doing sports.
My family is made up of my mom, my dad, my sister, my cat, Bree, and last, but not least, my turtle. And, this year, we are hosting a mexican girl, who's sixteen.
My mom teaches political science at university, and my dad is a doctor, a neurosurgeon. I love them, they always help and support my decisions. I'm really grateful, because I couldn't have better parents. I'm really honest with them, and we speak about everything. My sister is studying medicine at university and she is 20, but we aren't really close because of the age difference. I would love to have host siblings, to understand and connect with each other. I also enjoy spending time with kids, they are really cute and always bring laughter to life
For my future plans, I want to become a doctor, but also participate as a volunteer doctor for a couple of years in Africa, or in Asia, to help as much as I can.
About my personality, when I first meet someone I'm a bit shy, but when I start talking nobody can stop me! I'm really talkative, but I hope I'm funny and not boring. I'm curious, determinate, love traveling, and have already travelled a lot, as I love discovering new things.
I love reading, and my favourite book is Harry Potter, I'm a big fan. I'm creative, I love crafting, drawing and painting. Honestly, at home, I don't help my parents too much. I try to tidy my room, and bathroom, and I help setting the table for meals.
In the afternoon, I always study, because I attend to “Liceo Classico”, and I have a lot of things to study. I attend Latin, Ancient Greek, maths, chemistry, philosophy, history, italian, english, history of art and physics classes. My favourite subject is english, that's why I have chosen Australia, but I like all subjects.
Daytime my parents work, but we usually have lunch together, and this is a very important part of the day, because we talk about what we have done.
In the weekend I usually go out with my friends, we go to the cinema, we eat pizza together or we just walk around the street. My friends are really important for me, and I hope I’ll make friends also in your country.
I like sports, I had practiced fencing, gymnastics, volleyball, basketball and more, but my favourite is athletics, I love running, but I would love to try sports that I can't do in Italy, like surfing, snorkeling and things like that, because I like the sea.
I love also the country side, and animals, so I can't wait to come to Australia to see kangaroos, koalas and all the other animals.
I have chosen your country, because I really want to know more about this awesome place, I want to feel as an australian, not a tourist. I want to learn all your traditions, and, of course, improve my english. I love thinking that there will be an ocean between me and my italian life. In the other part of the world I will start a new life. I hope we will share some wonderful moments together because we will live a beautiful, precious experience that we will never forget.
It's going to be hard, but I'm ready to start a big adventure.

See you in Australia,
great regards,

your future daughter.

''Dove vai, in America?''
''Eh no, in Australia''
''Ah si, lo immaginavo, ti avevo già vista con le ali''
E, strano ma vero, non mi ha uccisa (premetto che il primo giorno di IV ginnasio lei stessa ci aveva avvertiti di non fare programmi all'estero haha) ma, mi ha detto che potrò usare skype solo nel pomeriggio, dato che ci sono molte ore di fuso orario.
Fisica e letteratura mi aspettano, corro a studiare!

Eleonora
